One of our residents at FOCUS Ministries has used his gift of writing in the form of writing poetry. He describes the insight of his poem titled THROUGH MY EYES as "faces" that we choose to put on. He says it this way, "We all have different faces we show to the world. From the happy go lucky face, to the tough guy face. But no matter the face, when we get all alone behind those closed doors and the only audience we have are four walls, that is when those tears begin to flow and no matter how hard we try, they just keep flowing. We cry out to God releasing to Him all the hurt and pain we have bottled up inside. ONly to get up the next day, reach into our bag of faces and put on the face to fit that day. Let's stop changing faces and allow God to give us the face of Christ Jesus."
"Through my Father's eyes, He sees my true heart

A facilitators feedback from Bledsoe's Tuesday night church service is a blessing to the hearer. Heather leads the Women of Hope class and has an average of 32 attendees! She has shared about the encouragement that comes from seeing the ladies encourage and pray for another. She said one woman had just received some devastating news was encouraged by her friends to worship through the pain. To not allow grief to keep her AWAY from God, but instead, draw her TOWARD Him. As the women stood with tears streaming down her face, her friends held her arms up in worship! Like Moses in Exodus 17, this precious women was not alone in her battle.
"As a leader, I believe that if I'm not empowering those under my care to succeed without my involvement, that I am not leading well. So, to see these ladies minister to each other on their own was very satisfying. They will remember that Jesus changed them from the inside out and brought hope to a very dark place. That's just one more thing I have to be grateful for!"

Thank you to all who helped make this event so amazing!
One of our classes offered to our women, Stepping into Freedom, is impacting the ladies directly and reaching beyond the walls to impact those outside the walls. This AMAZING testimony is from one of our facilitators. "Several of our recent students have left the facility to go home and are doing well. They are cleaning up their old Facebook posts, deleting bad influences as friends, photographing themselves with their families involved in church activities, and openly praising God for their new life in Christ on a daily basis. One student's husband was praising her on their anniversary for being a changed woman, wife, and mother who brought him to Christ. They are both overcoming addiction and failures together in Christ. God is good!"
