"I promise you that these men inspire me far beyond any inspiration I offer to them. I look forward to being involved as opportunities come."
I got involved with the FOCUS Ministries 3 and 1/2 years ago. The Sunday School class we joined at Central was planning a Christmas Dinner for the men in the ministry. I was asked to share a devotion during the dinner. I was very new in the church and did not want to say no, so I accepted. I really didn’t want to do it because I leaned toward being a “lock them up and throw away the key” person. As I arrived at the dinner, the first person to greet me was a young man named Josh. He introduced himself and thanked me for helping to provide dinner that night. Then others began to greet me and share their names. Soon I found myself sitting with four of the men and sharing supper together. SUDDENLY “THOSE PEOPLE” HAD NAMES and FACES. That night GOD used these men to change my way of thinking. Since that experience, I have been with our class every time we have provided a Monday meal. I have only missed ONE time. After three or four times the men asked if I would do a devotional with them when we came. I have been doing one ever since. During the devotional, the men talk more than I do. It has become more of a sharing time.
