Program Overview

The FOCUS Ministries Tasting Grace Program is a six-week mentoring and life skills program that is specifically designed to help women leaving incarceration. Twice a week, mentors come to one of the FOCUS Reentry Homes to cook with a small group of participants. During the class session, the mentor teaches about nutrition, meal planning, and cooking skills. As the ladies cook together in the kitchen, they also develop relationships with mentors in an organic way.

When the meal is ready, the entire home sits down to enjoy the meal together. The program participants are beaming with pride as they serve a delicious and affordable meal. The sweet relationships that develop from these cooking classes can continue after the six-weeks program is complete. We want each lady in the home to have a special mentor to connect with as a result of this program!

Mentors will attend the orientation, one cooking class, and the celebration dinner. We also encourage mentors to remain in contact with one of the ladies in between visits through a phone call or in-person meeting.
